Tottenham boss Jose Mourinho has confirmed that Giovani Lo Celso is not in contention for Thursday’s trip to Fulham in the Premier League.

Spurs visit Craven Cottage tomorrow for a league match, as they look to build on their 4-0 weekend win over Burnley.

The club’s manager has shared the news that there is no chance Lo Celso will be returning from injury for the fixture.

“It’s still the case,” Mourinho responded (Football London) when asked if Lo Celso was out against Fulham.

“Training with the team but was a big injury. We are not going to risk yet. In fact we don’t want to risk, we want to bring him to the team and to competition when there is no risk.

“So one more week, two more weeks. Apart from that, everybody ok. One more training session this afternoon, but we think ok.”

Lo Celso, 24, has been out of action since mid-December due to a serious hamstring problem.

The £27million (BBC) left-footer will watch from the sidelines against Fulham, albeit he is working his way back to fitness and is in training.

He is a versatile midfielder that can play in more offensive creating roles and he’s scored five goals in 19 games this season, but he’ll have to wait longer to make his comeback.

TBR’s View:

It’s time for others in the Spurs squad to step up, as it can’t solely be down to Harry Kane and Heung-Min Son to earn them points each week.

It’s great to see Gareth Bale making a big impression in recent matches to break into the XI, plus there have been positive signs from Lucas Moura, Erik Lamela and even Dele Alli is back in favour.

Lo Celso is another in the Spurs squad that can chip in offensively and he’ll be a welcomed boost when fit.
