Tottenham manager Jose Mourinho stressed the importance of Tottenham duo Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg and Hueng-Min Son after Thursday night’s 3-3 draw away to Austrian side LASK in the Europa League.
Spurs did enough to qualify for the Europa League last 32 with a point against LASK, albeit they will need to beat Royal Antwerp next week to top the group.
It was a frustrating night for the North London club in terms of their performance, as several of their fringe players failed to make the most of their opportunity in the starting XI.
Mourinho did credit starting duo Hojbjerg and Son, who both maintained their spot in the side to help earn the point out in Austria.
In-form attacker Son scored his team’s second goal with a brilliant one-on-one finish against the goalkeeper, plus Gareth Bale and Dele Alli both converted penalties.
“Some players are fundamental for us and I always need on the pitch in any circumstance, a couple of these players to give a little bit of balance to the team,” Mourinho said, as quoted by Football.London.
“As an example, Hojbjerg and Sonny, without them I don’t think we would have a positive result. Nothing really that I learn.”

TBR’s View:
Mourinho clearly has a settled side in the league and it’s obvious that there is a core group of players he considers his favourites.
Central midfielder Hobjerg has been a revelation since he joined in the summer from Southampton, as he’s already a leader on the pitch for others around him and it looks like he’s now one of the first names on the team sheet.
Meanwhile, Son is doing his best to out perform teammate Harry Kane and the attacking pair are two of the most in-form players across the whole of Europe right now.
