Spurs manager, Jose Mourinho, says he is delighted with both Hugo Lloris and Joe Hart as he hinted he the duo will likely be his first-choice ‘keeper pairing next season.

Lloris is being linked with a move back to France with PSG, while Hart, who has barely played in the Premier League at all, is having to be patient and bide his time at the club.

But rather than questioning his goalkeeper, Mourinho, speaking ahead of tomorrow’s game at Newcastle, believes he is lucky to have two stoppers of such high calibre.

I don’t want to offend anyone, and I hope that people just accept my opinion; we have the best goalkeeper in England and the best English goalkeeper,” Mourinho told Sky Sports.

“So I am so happy with that. I don’t think about what can or cannot happen in the summer. Hugo has a contract. Joe has a contract. I am so happy with both, no problems at all. Hugo is Hugo. He is a very good goalkeeper. He is our number one. It is hard for me to say that because Joe works so hard and deserves more than not playing one single minute in the Premier League until now. But it’s the reality of things.”

Hart has been a regular for Spurs in the Europa League this season, doing well in the main before being knocked out a few weeks back.

The former England number one has bags of experience and unlike anyone else in the Spurs squad, does have a Premier League winners medal from his time at Manchester City.

TBR View: Hart’s experience is crucial but Spurs can’t wait much longer

Mourinho might be happy with Hart and Lloris but the reality is that the French stopper is 35 next, so he won’t have too long left at the very top level, even though goalkeepers do last that bit longer.

Hart, meanwhile, is a useful deputy. He is a good professional and has been a winner, something a lot in the Spurs squad haven’t been.

Mourinho is right to be happy with the duo. But he will need someone new in the next few windows.
