Jose Mourinho has been quoted by Goal as hinting that he could be interested in bringing Real Madrid superstar Gareth Bale back to Tottenham Hotspur, almost seven years after he moved to Real Madrid for £85million (BBC Sport).
Bale, 30, is becoming a hate figure at Real Madrid under the critical eye of expectant supporters and media. His lack of form, twinned with his availability for Wales but unavailability for Madrid through apparent injury, has angered fans.
Recent footage saw Bale come off the substitutes to warm up to a chorus of boos. But the attacker’s reaction showed his mental strength, simplay laughing it off. It also comes after he was pictured with a flag that read ‘Wales, golf Madrid, in that order’.
It is clear that Zinedine Zidane wants rid of Bale and the Welshman could leave. Whether Tottenham can sign Bale is a different question, given the winger is on enormous wages and will command a big transfer fee – but Mourinho hinted at a move.
Asked whether Bale could return to Spurs under his tenure, Mourinho hinted: “Come on, I don’t need to answer.”

TBR’s view – Re-signing Bale in January might get season back on track
Bale proved during his time at Tottenham in the Premier League that he is more than capable of shining in England’s top tier – scoring 43 goals and laying on 31 assists in 146 top-flight appearances.
With Tottenham stuttering – especially after Mourinho suffered his first defeat as Spurs manager – they need something to reignite the enthusiasm and what better way than to bring Bale back to north London.
