Sky Sports is suggesting that Tottenham Hotspur could be offered both Samuel Umtiti and Nelson Semedo by Barcelona as the Catalans eye a deal for Tanguy Ndombele. The Telegraph have now suggested that Tottenham were in fact the instigators, as they look for potential swap deals this summer.
Considering Tottenham boss Jose Mourinho is known to be a big fan of the French World Cup winner, such a deal will undoubtedly be tempting.
However, Semedo has also been on his radar in the past.
In fact, reports at the time of Semedo’s move to Barcelona suggested he was a hijacking from Mourinho’s clutches at Manchester United.
As reported by The Sun, Manchester United looked to have won the race for the player in 2017. A £35 million price-tag was mooted.

United were already advancing well in talks for Semedo’s Benfica teammate Victor Lindelof and Semedo shares an agent with Mourinho. The deal, for many, looked to be a done thing.
However, Barcelona were about to swoop. As reported by AS, Barcelona turned to Semedo after giving up in their pursuit of Arsenal defender Hector Bellerin.
That July, Barcelona won the race for the player, with Semedo more likely to slot straight into the Barcelona side considering their lack of right-back options.
Manchester United and Mourinho were left off sticking with veteran option Antonio Valencia before finally signing Semedo’s compatriot Diogo Dalot a year later.
But now, three years after Arsenal’s stubbornness regarding Bellerin cost Mourinho his man, Tottenham Hotspur could end up being the landing pad for the Portuguese full-back.
