Jose Mourinho responded positively to the performance of Tottenham midfielder Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg in the pre-season win over Ipswich Town and claimed he’s a big help to his teammate Harry Winks.
Spurs kickstarted their pre-season fixtures with a 3-0 victory against Ipswich and they scored all their goals within the first half an hour.
Ryan Sessegnon opened the scoring for the north London club at their home ground, before attacker Heung-Min Son netted a quick-fire brace.
Mourinho credited Hojbjerg after he made his first appearance in a Spurs shirt since his summer arrival from Southampton, albeit in a friendly fixture.
The Spurs boss felt that the 25-year-old can be a calming influence in the centre of the park alongside midfield teammate Harry Winks, with the duo both starting together against Ipswich.
“It’s a pity empty stadium even on a friendly,” Mourinho responded, when asked what he made of Hojbjerg’s performance.
“I imagine that if it was normal times we would have a few thousand and I think that’s one of the things that attracted Pierre to our club.
“I think people can get an idea of what he can do for us. I think for Winks it’s very comfortable for him to play with Pierre on his side.”

TBR’s View:
With Eric Dier dropping back into the centre-back position, Spurs need a midfield enforcer in their side and it looks like Hojbjerg could be the man to solve that problem for Mourinho.
The Denmark international showed at Southampton he was a leader on the pitch during his spell as club captain and it will be no surprise to see him impact the current Spurs team in the same way.
It also sounds like his position in the team is going to allow midfielders next to him to be more expressive, which is good news for the likes of Winks, Tanguy Ndombele, Moussa Sissoko and Giovani Lo Celso.
