Tottenham Hotspur could be offered a very tempting offer to swap out Tanguy Ndombele this summer from Inter Milan, according to a report from Corriere dello Sport this week.

The report (print edition, 22/07/20; pg 6) suggests that Inter Milan are considering the idea of offering Croatian star Marcelo Brozovic to Tottenham in exchange for Ndombele.

It is claimed that Antonio Conte can see a future without the World Cup finalist at Inter and would be willing to sanction his swap if it meant Ndombele heading to the San Siro.

It is an opportunity Jose Mourinho would likely snap up.

Brozovic is the sort of midfield player the Portuguese appreciates and he has spoken of his admiration for the Inter star in the past.

In his role as a pundit for Russia Today at the 2018 World Cup, Mourinho discussed the best midfield combinations in the competition.

He made it clear that Croatia’s trio of Brozovic, Ivan Rakitic, and Luka Modric was on par with that of France, the eventual winners.

“Croatia probably have the best midfield players in the competition if Paul [Pogba] plays like he did today then Paul, [Blaise] Matuidi and [N’Golo] Kante is a fantastic group, ” Mourinho stated, as relayed by Metro. “Modric, Rakitic and Brozovic is the same level. I think Croatia has a great mentality and fantastic midfield players to control the possession of the game.”

Tottenham now seemingly have a chance of securing the signature of Brozovic, in a move that would see the clearly unfancied Ndombele head out of the club and out of Mourinho’s hair.

Of course, Mourinho was talking collectively regarding the Croatia midfield stronghold and, as England discovered, he was right.

But there is no doubt he will be a player the Tottenham boss rates highly and surely if, given the chance, he will be making a swoop on the Croatian maestro.
