Tottenham Hotspur return to Champions League action tonight.

The north Londoners are taking on RB Leipzig over two legs at the last 16 stage, and will be hoping for a smooth passage into the quarter-finals.

They may not get that though, with Leipzig a dangerous side these days.

The club are currently challenging for the Bundesliga title with Bayern Munich, which is a suggestion of their quality.

It isn’t lost on Jose Mourinho, who was complimentary about Julian Nagelsmann’s side in his press conference yesterday.

He said: “They’re a very good team, a very balanced team, huge squad, lots of options. They are able to play in different tactical systems, very fast, very dangerous on the counter-attack.

“They have three strikers in the squad but sometimes they play without them, to play just with fast players like (Timo) Werner and (Christopher) Nkunku like they did against Bayern Munich.”

Werner will be the real danger man for Spurs – the Germany international has plundered 25 goals in 31 appearances this season, although he hasn’t bagged in any of the last four Bundesliga matches.

Werner is on something of a mini-drought out at the moment and will be itching to score at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium and add to his 25-goal haul.

Nkunku is definitely a threat too – his versatility makes him particularly difficult to keep tabs on.

As Mourinho points out, the pair have real pace and zip about them, and it’ll be a hard task shutting them out.
