Jose Mourinho has told BT Sport (broadcast on 2/1; 14:36) that Aston Villa are his favourite team to watch in the Premier League ahead of Tottenham Hotspur’s trip to the Midlands this month.
Spurs have made an outstanding start to the year. They beat Leeds 3-0 on Saturday. They now face a run of four games in two weeks.

After facing Brentford and Marine in the Carabao Cup and FA Cup respectively, they return to top flight action with a trip to Villa Park.
The game will pit two of the league’s most impressive sides this season against each other. Spurs currently sit third, four points off top spot.
Villa meanwhile, are three points off Tottenham with a game in hand. So perhaps, it should be little surprise that Mourinho has made a lofty claim about the Villans.

“Aston Villa is my favourite team in the Premier League at the moment,” he told BT Sport. “It’s a team that I enjoy more to watch.
“It’s a team with lots of very good players, of course, very well coached. And this is what is waiting for us.”
Villa have certainly been one of the stories of the season. Of course, the supporters are well aware of how close they came to making an immediate return to the Championship last year.
But they have made the most of their second chance. Their summer signings have been superb. And those who previously struggled last season seem to have stepped up considerably.
There is definitely an opportunity for an upsetting of the apple cart towards the top of the table this term. And Villa are currently the team in pole position to do just that.
