Jose Mourinho has labelled Heung-min Son special following Tottenham Hotspur’s Carabao Cup semi-final win over Brentford on Tuesday – in comments reported by Football London.
Spurs are through to the final after seeing off the Championship side 2-0. After Moussa Sissoko’s header, it was Son who made the game safe with a superb second-half strike.

The South Korean has scored 16 goals in all competitions this season. He looks destined to eclipse his best tally for goals in a Premier League season. And of course, the 28-year-old recently brought up his century for the club.
Mourinho was asked about the forward’s preference to talk about the team when asked about his own form. And that prompted the Tottenham boss to label Son special on and off the pitch.

“That’s the humility of a player,” he said, as reported by Football London. “That’s Sonny. He’s like that. Some other guys they are not like that. For him it’s the team. For him, for Kane, for Lucas, for many the team is first and of course we depend a lot on the characteristics of some players.
“Sonny is one of them.He had two chances. He had a good volley. I saw the ball in the net but unfortunately I was wrong and the ball went out.
“Then he faced the keeper in a difficult moment of the game, where the game is open. The opponent is trying and pushing and he goes and he kills the game.
“So special player but also a special human being.”
TBR View: Son special, and definitely world-class
There is certainly no longer a debate to be had regarding whether Son is world-class. He has been outstanding for some time.
He has hit double figures for league goals every year since his second season in North London began. And there is no reason why he cannot set his sights on something like 30 in all competitions this term.
He is definitely one of the best players in the world right now. But Mourinho clearly loves the way that Son is unlikely to acknowledge that fact.
