Tottenham manager Jose Mourinho has claimed that he expects Eric Dier to recapture his best form soon enough, as well as adding that he’s a popular member of the dressing room that is “loved” by his teammates.
Dier has been a regular in the Spurs XI for most of the season, but has watched from the bench in two of the previous three Premier League games.
The £4million defender has made a few high-profile errors to put himself under the magnifying glass.
He’s an aggressive centre-back that is strong in his tackling and commanding in the air, but is guilty of the odd lapse in concentration.
Mourinho has highlighted errors from the England international, but has shown his faith in him to respond with positive comments.
“I have to admit that recently, our team makes little important mistakes that are punished in terms of our results. And Eric was there, he was one of them. They feel it,” Mourinho said, as quoted by Sky Sports.
“And I believe confidence, that drops a little bit. But great personality, a team guy, as happy as we were when we won on Sunday.
“A guy that loves it here, a guy that is loved by the teammates, a guy that I trust, a guy that I consider one of the ones. And he will be back to normality and his normality of course is to play and be solid.”

TBR’s View:
Dier certainly appears to be one of the more senior figures in the Spurs dressing room, which is why he’ll be frustrated with individual mistakes.
The 25-year-old has shown on his day he’s a top player and Mourinho prefers him at centre-half than in midfield.
The Spurs boss has the options in his squad to rotate in the heart of defence and it looks like he’s still trying to figure out his best combination, but Dier is certainly a player that he favours and it sounds like he’s willing to bring him back into the XI.
