Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly interested in a deal for Real Madrid owned defender Sergio Reguilon ahead of the next transfer window.

That is according to ABC de Sevilla, who suggest the left-back is wanted by Tottenham and North London rivals Arsenal.

The 23-year-old is currently on loan at Sevilla from Real Madrid and has impressed in La Liga this season. MARCA recently valued him at around £17.5 million and Tottenham boss Jose Mourinho will undoubtedly want left-back options this summer.

It also helps that Mourinho is seemingly a big fan of the player.

The Portuguese spent much of his time in between his jobs at Manchester United and Tottenham working as a well-regarded pundit.

That included for beIN Sports’ coverage of the Real Madrid v Barcelona ‘El Clasico’ double-header in 2019.

Reguilon was used in both games by then Real Madrid boss Santiago Solari. Barcelona won both clashes that week, 3-0 and 1-0, but whilst Mourinho castigated many of the ‘soft’ performances from Real Madrid players, as reported by The World Game, he praised Reguilon.

“I say, from my perspective too, one of the players that could show that Real Madrid traditional desire to compete against Barcelona was another kid like Reguilon, who had a very good approach in both matches.”

Clearly, the full-back caught the eye of Tottenham’s manager in those two big games for putting in a hard-working and courageous effort in a quick-fire double-header of first-time El Clasico experiences.

With Tottenham looking slim at left-back for next season, perhaps Reguilon has shown Mourinho the fight he wants from his players.
