Tottenham manager Jose Mourinho picked out Giovani Lo Celso as a major positive following his performance in the win over Norwich City on Wednesday night.
After a run of four Premier League matches without a victory, Spurs ended that by beating Norwich 2-1 at home in midweek.
Dele Alli gave the hosts an advantage in the first-half after converting a cross from Serge Aurier, but Teemu Pukki levelled from the penalty spot after Ryan Sessegnon conceded a foul in the box.
Heung-Min Son went on to head in a late winner for the North London outfit and they are now six points off the Champions League positions.
Mourinho singled out Lo Celso for his contribution against Norwich, as he helped link up much of the play for his team and showed an immense work-rate.
The Argentine central midfielder has taken a little bit of time to get going since his summer arrival, but has started three of the last four league games and is beginning to become an important player.
“I think he (Lo Celso) was phenomenal. He is improving day after day match after match,” Mourinho said, as quoted by the club’s official Twitter account.
“Great mentality, great quality, plays where the team needs him. I’m so so pleased with his evolution.
Lo Celso looked like he would be a good addition on paper for Spurs in the summer and he’s now beginning to fulfil his promise in recent weeks.
The left-footed playmaker is looking more confident on the ball and appears to have found an important role for himself in the centre of the park, where he helps pull the strings and add an attacking dimension.
He definitely has the potential to step into the shoes long-term of Christian Eriksen and it will be no surprise to see him turn in more top quality displays over the coming weeks.
