Japhet Tanganga has joined Millwall on loan from Tottenham Hotspur.
The 24-year-old defender has move to the Lions after his loan spell with Augsburg was cut short earlier this month.
Millwall have signed Tanganga at a time when his stock may well be at its lowest, but the defender does arrive with glowing reviews from two of world football’s most respected figures.
Indeed, according to Richard Cawley, Millwall boss, Joe Edwards, was actually given a rave review of Tanganga by both Antonio Conte and Jose Mourinho who, of course, worked with the defender during his time at Tottenham.
Conte and Mourinho have both reportedly recommended Tanganga as a signing, and that may come as a bit of a surprise to some.
Tanganga barely got a sniff under Conte last season, and while Mourinho was more open to giving him chances as a youngster, he didn’t really impress all that much during that time period.

Of course, there’s a huge difference between playing for Tottenham and playing for Millwall and if a Championship manager asks if a player you had at a top six Premier League club would be a good signing, you’re probably going to say yes.
For Tanganga, this is a great chance to get his development back on track.
Once upon a time, Tanganga was seen as one of the brightest propsects in English football, and perhaps six months in the Championship will help him rediscover his love for the game and refocus as Tanganga looks to get back to his best.
Unfortuantely, it’s fair to assume that Tanganga may not have a long-term future at Tottenham, but that isn’t to say that he can’t carve out a Premier League career for himself elsewhere if this loan spell goes well.
Conte and Mourinho may have played a big part in helping Tanganga get back on track.
