Jose Enrique has urged Liverpool to complete the signing of Chelsea attacker Willian this summer on Instagram, as the Brazilian approaches the final two months of his current contract at Stamford Bridge.
Willian, 31, is likely to be one of the most in-demand free agents in the coming months with the Brazil international unlikely to agree new terms with Chelsea. Spotrac claim Willian earns a huge £120,000 a week.
The Liverpool Echo claimed over the weekend that the Reds are not interested in signing the former Shakhtar Donetsk star, despite the player being available for nothing. ESPN claim Newcastle have opened talks with the player’s agent.
But ex-Liverpool star Enrique, who also played for Newcastle throughout his career, urged Jurgen Klopp to bring Willian to Anfield in the coming months – claiming he would be great back-up for the current front three.

Good morning reds! What do you think of this rumour? For me it will be a great signing for a backup for our front 3. I play against him and for me he is a top player. I know is 31 now but he still have quiet few good years on him I'm sure and is a free agent #Liverpoolfc #willian
TBR’s view – Enrique is bang on, Liverpool foolish not to sign Willian
Even if Liverpool’s model in the transfer market to sign younger players. Jadon Sancho, Kylian Mbappe, Timo Werner and more have all been linked, with those targets all under the age of 25.
But Liverpool need experience as well as youth, in order for the younger players to learn. James Milner is a crucial part of the Liverpool side and continues to show plenty of quality, and Willian has got to be added to the Reds’ side for that reason.
