Jose Enrique has urged Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp to sell Naby Keita this summer after reports revealed he’s unhappy at Anfield.

The Reds signed the Guinean midfielder from RB Leipzig for £52.75 million in 2018 (Sky Sports). He was viewed as the man who would take Liverpool’s midfield to the next level, but that hasn’t quite happened over the last four years.

Just last night, Sky Sports Germany journalist Florian Plettenberg revealed that Keita, who has entered the final year of his contract, is unhappy at Liverpool.

He claimed that there were talks about a new deal, but those discussions have now stopped.

Enrique, who is very vocal about his old club on Instagram these days, wasn’t too happy with what he heard about Keita. He urged Klopp to sell him this summer and even offered him to Manchester United – jokingly of course.

“If he is not happy, sell him this summer and at least we get some money,” Enrique wrote in his Instagram Stories last night.

“(Manchester) United are looking to pay £80 million for Casemiro. Listen, United, £40 million (for Keita), half price, younger player.”

Liverpool paid a lot of money for Keita, and many even expected him to become a star at Anfield. However, things just haven’t worked out for the midfielder.

The now 27-year-old has only played 117 times for Liverpool in all competitions in four full seasons at the club. Injuries have really troubled him, with Keita missing a staggering 61 games due to fitness issues since 2018.

It is a surprise that Liverpool are even offering the Guinean a new contract this summer considering all the problems he has had. Many would’ve predicted that he would be sold, but that doesn’t seem to be Klopp’s preference at this moment in time.

However, if Keita is unwilling to sign a new deal, the best option for Liverpool would be to sell him now instead of losing him for nothing next year.
