Jose Enrique has claimed that people don’t realise how good Liverpool’s Curtis Jones worked off the ball definitely during his performance on Tuesday night.
Liverpool produced a much-needed improved display to beat German opposition RB Leipzig 2-0 in last night’s European showdown, which was a welcomed distraction from their poor domestic form.
The Reds now have a two-goal advantage over Leipzig going into the second leg of the Champions League last 16 tie.
Jurgen Klopp’s side will now prepare for the Merseyside derby this weekend against Everton and go into it off the back of three consecutive Premier League losses.
But there were plenty of positive individual displays against Leipzig, including from academy graduate Jones.
The 20-year-old central midfielder contributed going forward with the assist for Sadio Mane’s second goal, while the first was from Mohamed Sarah.
But ex-Reds defender Enrique was equally as impressed with the hard work Jones showed out of possession.
“They were fantastic the three midfielders, especially Curtis Jones. Curtis Jones was incredible,” Enrique told Liverpool Goals on Instagram.
“Curtis today, people don’t realise how good he was with the ball, but how good he was helping [Andy] Robertson defending as well. He was recovering so many balls.”

TBR’s View:
Jones was introduced to the Liverpool first-team squad last season and was always going to play a role under Klopp this campaign, but injuries have perhaps resulted in him being fast-tracked.
But the all-action midfielder has dealt with the step up with real ease.
It’s worth noting that the Liverpool-born youngster is trying to find his feet in a team that are struggling with the defence of their league crown this season and the startin XI has looked all over the place due to injuries.
Despite all the adversity, Jones offers a box-to-box attacking threat and also buys into the defensive work needed to play in Klopp’s midfield.
