Jose Enrique has claimed that Liverpool’s Thiago Alcantara is still one of the world’s very best midfielders.

Thiago, who joined the Reds for £20million (BBC) last summer from Bayern Munich, has had a difficult first year at Anfield.

The 30-year-old missed a couple of months earlier in the season, and has had to adjust to the style of Jurgen Klopp’s XI.

However, the central midfielder has looked far more comfortable in recent weeks, proving why he was so successful with German giants Bayern.

Enrique has predicted that Liverpool supporters will get to see the best out of the Spain international going into next season.

“Definitely is one of the best midfielders in the world so I believe we are going to see the best of him on the remaining games left and next season,” Enrique said.

On top of his injuries, Thiago has had to try find his way this year in a Liverpool team that has struggled for confidence at times.

Fortunately, the Merseyside giants are now back in form, and have 17 points from a possible 21.

Thiago is technically with the ball at his feet one of the very best around, which is why if he gets time in possession he can hurt any opposition.

There has been a slight rebuild for Liverpool after dropping off from the dizzy heights they were at, but the signs are that next season they can fight towards the top again with Thiago in the new-look midfield.
