It seems unlikely that many supporters would have predicted Henderson to make quite the impact he has when he arrived at the football club.

He joined from Sunderland for £20 million (BBC) and looking at what he’s achieved at Anfield, it’s a fee that looks an absolute steal.

Enrique posted a heartfelt Instagram message to the player he spent five years playing alongside for Liverpool.

Henderson stepped up to replace Steven Gerrard as the club’s captain and has taken to the role with aplomb.

In his nine years at the club, the 30-year-old has played 364 times for the Reds and under Jurgen Klopp, he has become one of the Premier League’s top midfielders.

The £140,000-a-week star claimed the Football Writers Player of the Year for the 2019/20 campaign, capping off a decent season on a personal level as well as collectively with the Reds.

Henderson has been capped 55 times for England and despite Liverpool boasting a plethora of young talent, he is still one of the first names on Klopp’s team-sheet.

Enrique’s post speaks volumes of the man that Henderson has become and he is thoroughly deserving of all he’s achieved over the last nine years.
