Jose Enrique has stressed the importance that Diogo Jota will have on his return to the Liverpool team.
Jota, who joined last summer from Wolverhampton Wanderers, has been sidelined with a knee injury since December.
But the 24-year-old attacker has returned to “full training” (official website) now with the Reds ahead of the team’s game against Sheffield United on Sunday.
Jurgen Klopp’s side remarkably go into the Premier League match sixth in the table and 19 points behind top-flight leaders Manchester City, who look like they will be taking the title from them.
Liverpool are preparing to face a Sheffield United team sat rock bottom of the table, but they have lost their last four consecutive league matches including against Everton.
Enrique has stated on Instagram that Jota’s return is going to be so vital:
If Liverpool’s form wasn’t bad enough for supporters, losing to Everton will have been the final nail in the coffin for some.
They are still in a good position in the Champions League knockouts, but the pressure is now on them to even get in a top four position.
Jota can’t be expected to lift the entire team when he returns to the XI, but his Liverpool career started extremely brightly and perhaps he can inject some extra quality to the attack.
The versatile Portuguese forward can play anywhere in attack and scored nine goals in 17 games before his injury setback.
