Jorginho suggests striker Arsenal sold for £24m was even better than Dennis Bergkamp

Arsenal have had some truly incredible strikers throughout their history in the Premier League.

Ian Wright, Thierry Henry and Nicolas Anelka were all incredible in their own right, but two of Arsenal’s best forwards were two Dutchmen.

Indeed, Dennis Bergkamp and Robin Van Persie were two utterly incredible players for Arsenal at different times in the club’s history.

Bergkamp and Van Persie are undoubtedly two true legends of the game, but which player is better?

Well, speaking to Goal on TikTok, Arsenal’s current star, Jorginho, has been ranking some of the best Dutch strikers in history, and he actually put Van Persie ahead of Bergkamp.

Now, this will be controversial.

Arsenal fans still absolutely adore Bergkamp, while Van Persie’s reputation at the Emirates took a massive hit when he left to join Manchester United for £24m.

So, who is the better player? Well, that’s a tough one to answer.

In terms of their legacy at Arsenal, Bergkamp is by far and away ahead of Van Persie, but in terms of finishing, Van Persie is levels above Bergkamp.

Bergkamp wasn’t your traditional striker, he was much more about what he could do on the ball rather than those first-time finishes that made Van Persie such a dangerous player.

This is a very close debate, but, for our money, we’d rather have Bergkamp in our team unlocking doors for others while chipping in with a number unbelievable goals rather than Van Persie’s relentless goalscoring prowess.

Bergkamp is probably the more individually talented player out of the two, but in terms of who can be more effective for a truly elite team, Van Persie may well be ahead of his fellow countryman in that regard.

This is certainly an interesting debate, and it’s intriguing to hear Jorginho’s perspective on these two players in this way.
