Jorginho can give Arsenal the perfect chance to re-sign 26-year-old, in player-plus-cash deal

Jorginho seems to be edging closer and closer to the exit door at Arsenal with his contract due to end in June – but the midfielder could now give The Gunners the perfect opportunity to strike a swap deal.

The 32-year-old is in the final couple of months of his contract. Arsenal have the option to extend his contract by a further 12 months – but Jorginho is growing tired in waiting for Arsenal to make a decision.

He has been a regular part of the side this season, but it remains unclear if Arsenal are going to trigger the 12-month extension in his contract. Arsenal themselves will be on the lookout for a replacement.

One player they could turn to is Ismael Bennacer. The AC Milan star has been linked with a return to The Gunners this summer, having left the club after playing in Arsenal’s academy – playing one senior game.

Calcio Mercato say Milan would consider the sale of the Algeria man for a fee of £43m. He would surely be tempted by a return to The Gunners, and his high-energy style might be perfect with Declan Rice.

Jorginho’s agent recently said – as per Football Italia – that it would be difficult for the player to turn MIlan down: “When it comes to their strength and tradition, everyone would love to play for Milan.”

A swap deal involving Jorginho suits Arsenal move for Bennacer

So, Jorginho would be keen on a move to Milan and Bennacer is wanted by Arsenal. It might suit all parties if the two players swapped clubs. But, if Jorginho is available on a free, it doesn’t help Arsenal.

The Gunners would need to hand Jorginho a contract extension, and then offer him to Milan in a deal for Bennacer. But, it would still make sense for all involved. Bennacer has long been linked with a return.

Jorginho is now in his thirties and would suit Italian football, as he edges towards the last few years of his career. Bennacer’s style suits the Premier League. Including him in a deal for Bennacer aids all parties.
