Everton are reportedly keen on Flamengo boss Jorge Jesus as a potential replacement for the under-fire Marco Silva.
It would certainly be an interesting appointment and it might also help Everton in the pursuit of a top young talent, reportedly on their radar.
The player in question is Flamengo youngster Reinier. In July, it was suggested by Esporte Interativo that Everton had secured a deal to sign the talented teenager in January. The report claimed Everton would pay £36.7 million to bring the player in after he turned 18 in January.
As reported by Globo Esporte in August, that was not the case. Instead, the Toffees were ready to play a waiting game, in the hope that Flamengo’s valuation of the player goes down due to his contract expiring in December 2020.
“He will have a bright future. There are things similar to a Brazilian player who went abroad very early. He has style and the physical profile of Kaka.”
Of course, Reinier is currently starring for Flamengo under Jesus. In fact, he handed him his senior debut and compared him to Kaka, as reported by Lance, back in September.
Plenty of clubs from around Europe are now snooping around Reinier but if Everton were to appoint Jesus they would have a clear advantage in their pursuit of one of Brazil’s top young talents.
