Aston Villa manager Dean Smith is weighing up his options as he continues to put his own personal stamp on his squad.
And Jordon Mutch appears to be the latest player to be considered. According to The Sun journalist Mike McGrath, Mutch is training with Aston Villa at the moment.
Mutch is a free agent after he was released by Crystal Palace earlier this month. But his lack of playing time over the last couple of seasons should act as a warning for the Villans.
The 27-year-old last played in October when he finished an 18-match loan spell with MLS side Vancouver Whitecaps.

The 2017/18 season was non-existent for Mutch, who did not manage a single appearance. In the 2016/17 season, he played eight times for Crystal Palace and nine times during an unsuccessful loan spell at Reading.
Mutch’s last Premier League outing came over two years ago and he has played just 17 times in English football since summer 2016.
Even though he is a free agent and will not cost the Villans any money to sign, this lack of playing time should be a concern.
The ex-England under-21 international is unlikely to improve Smith’s current options and his lack of playing time should tell Aston Villa to avoid this one.
