Serge Atakayi has made the interesting move to return to Finland from Rangers on loan and join top-tier side SJK Seinajoki until June 11 – to which Ross McCrorie and Jordan Thompson have reacted on Twitter.
The 20-year-old winger joined Rangers in the summer of FF Jaro in the summer of 2016. He has since been a regular part of Rangers’ reserve side, and has even made his first-team debut under Steven Gerrard.
He came on for 17 minutes of Rangers’ 7-1 win over Motherwell earlier in the season but amid the joy of making his debut, was the bitter disappointment of suffering a long-term injury.
Now on the comeback trail and looking to show Gerrard what he is all about, Atakayi has opted to move to his home country to gain regular game time. Blackpool midfielder Thompson, and McCrorie, both wished him well.
All the best bro👊🏼 @SAtakayi11

The move is a perfect one for Atakayi. The chances of breaking into the first team before the end of the season are almost zero, with so much competition ahead of him.
The likes of Ryan Kent, Glenn Middleton, Daniel Candeias, Eros Grezda and the returning Jamie Murphy is hard for most players to overcome, let alone a youngster in Atakayi.
His best chance of catching Gerrard’s attention ahead of the 2019-20 campaign is to impress in Finland between now and June. If he does that, more chances like Motherwell may come along.
