Jordan Rossiter hints his Rangers career looks to be over

Jordan Rossiter has hinted that his future lies away from Rangers as he disclosed one disappointment from his spell at Ibrox, in comments reported by The Scottish Sun.

Rossiter is currently on loan at Fleetwood Town after a tough spell with the Gers. His arrival looked to be a masterstroke from the Scottish Premiership side. But injuries plagued his time with the club.

He left to join Bury on loan in January having made just 10 league appearances in two-and-a-half years. His spell at Gigg Lane was extremely encouraging and may have left some supporters wondering whether Steven Gerrard may hand him a fresh chance this season.

However, he was loaned out again, with League One side Fleetwood Town signing the 22-year-old for the  campaign.

His more recent departure hinted that Rossiter had not yet done enough to prove that his previous injury problems were behind him. But the former Liverpool man’s comments about his move hint that he may not be expecting to get the chance to play for the Gers again.

“Over the summer, I knew that I was not in the plans at Rangers,” he said, as reported by The Scottish Sun. “You don’t realise how big Rangers is until you get there. You get quite taken aback by it at first – I was getting noticed just walking along the street.

“Unfortunately, I never played in an Old Firm game but spent one on the bench and it was a totally different atmosphere to anything I’d experienced before.

“I will always be grateful to the physio team at the club. They got to the root of my injuries and sent me for treatment at St George’s Park for a lower back issue.”

TBR’s View

It would be a big shame if Rossiter is done at Rangers. While the Gers have made significant progress under Gerrard, he looks to be the kind of player that could raise his own game in the future.

He rarely disappointed when he was involved. It may be difficult to put faith in him given his history, but he has played regularly across his two loan spells.

And while Rangers may not exactly rue the decision if they let him go permanently in the future, it would be no surprise if he does prove to be a success wherever he heads next.
