Jordan Pickford has praised Aaron Ramsdale, and labelled the goalkeeper’s first season at Arsenal unbelievable, in comments reported by The Times.
Ramsdale is once again in the England squad for their Nations League clashes with Hungary, Germany and Italy. He will be hoping to earn his second cap for the Three Lions.

It is a remarkable turnaround for Ramsdale. One year ago, the 24-year-old was coming to terms with his second relegation from the Premier League in as many years.

He got better as Sheffield United’s season went on. But there was still widespread ridicule when it became apparent that Arsenal were preparing to pay an initial £24 million to sign Ramsdale.

However, we have all been made to eat our words. Ramsdale has been a revelation, quickly wrestling the number one spot from Bernd Leno. And it now seems that the Gunners have a real talent on their hands.
Ramsdale is not the finished article just yet. But one of his next goals may be forcing his way into Gareth Southgate’s first-choice lineup. Of course, to do that, he will have to overtake Pickford in the pecking order.
Pickford looks set to keep his place for some time yet. But the Everton man was full of praise for what Ramsdale has done since he moved to the Emirates as he reflected on the challenge.
“Rammers [Ramsdale] had a really good season, for a first season at Arsenal it was unbelievable, but for me it is always about concentrating on myself,” he said, as reported by The Times.

Ramsdale’s challenge is to now show that he can kick on. He made some mistakes last season. And it does appear that some still have their doubts about how good he will become.
There are much higher expectations this coming year. Finishing fifth will probably not be good enough for a lot of supporters after the promise they showed this past season.
Ramsdale was exceptional for much of the year. But he now needs to find yet another gear as Arsenal set their sights on establishing themselves back amongst the elite.
