Jake Hastie has left Rangers on loan once again, joining Partick Thistle until the January, initially. The winger has been on loan for 18 months in the two years since he joined Rangers. Now, Hastie has posted on Instagram after leaving Rangers on loan again – Jordan Jones and Tony Watt have reacted.

Hastie, 22, joined Rangers after a run of games in the second half of the 2018-19 season that saw him score seven goals for Motherwell. Of course, at the time, he was still only a teenager. Joining Rangers, he immediately went on loan to English side Rotherham and scored three goals in 16 games.

But since then, it has been a bit of a decline. Hastie only lasted half a season at Rotherham, returning to Motherwell for the 2020-21 season. But he failed to score or lay on an assist in 17 outings. Scoring in the 3-2 Challenge Cup win over Dumbarton, Hastie has posted on Instagram after joining Partick.

What have Watt and Jones said, as Hastie leaves Rangers on loan?

It is a drop into the Scottish Championship for Hastie, who will be looking to get his career back on track with a successful spell at Partick. His new side have made a very solid start to the Championship season – winning their two league games against Queen of the South and Dunfermline.

Partick sit top and the signing of Hastie is quite a coup for the second-tier side. But Hastie needs to get his form and confidence back together before returning to Rangers – whether that is in January, or next summer. Both Jones – who has left Rangers for Wigan – and ex-Celt Watt responded.
