Jordan Jones shows Rangers loyalties after Twitter row with Celtic fan Jay Quitongo

Jordan Jones is set to join Rangers in the summer at the end of his Kilmarnock contract and he showed his loyalty to the Ibrox club in a short Twitter spat with Celtic fan Jay Quitongo.

Jones, 24, has signed a pre-contract agreement with Rangers under the Bosman ruling. It will see the Northern Ireland international move to Glasgow this summer, with his contract at Killie expiring at the end of the season.

An avid user of Twitter, Jones claimed that Tottenham Hotspur’s Son Heung-min is the best Asian player of all time. Former Partick Thistle and Aberdeen man Quitongo disagreed, claiming Celtic icon Shinsuke Nakamura is.

Jones bit back. He criticised Quitongo, telling the Celtic fan – who plays for Iranian side Machine Sazi – to “grow up”. Quitongo ended the row, telling Jones “hope you enjoy watching 10 in a row”.

TBR’s view

Most players will tell you that if they are turning out for the club they hold dearest, then they will go above and beyond for that shirt. Jones is a Rangers fan, and his Tweet upon signing proved that.

Jones is one of Kilmarnock’s best players. But there are question marks over whether he will be able to mirror that form at Ibrox – but this exchange with Quitongo perhaps suggests he will.

That passion to defend the badge will bring more out of Jones, and could see him become a legend for the Teddy Bears over the next few years.
