Jordan Jones took to Twitter after Rangers’s superb 1-0 win away at Braga to express his delight at the result, with the winger singling out George Edmundson for praise.
Rangers are through to the last 16 of the Europa League after a dramatic victory in Portugal on Wednesday.
The Gers went into the game with a narrow 3-2 lead following the first-leg at Ibrox. And they went into the break of the second-leg having squandered a golden chance to increase their advantage.
Ianis Hagi had had an emphatic penalty superbly saved by the Braga goalkeeper just before the whistle blew.
But Ryan Kent ensured that Rangers became the first team through to the next round. The winger latched onto a brilliant long pass from Hagi and calmly found the bottom corner.
Rangers certainly deserved their victory. But they also needed some heroic performances at the back.
Connor Goldson and Edmundson were colossuses at the heart of the defence. Goldson arguably produced one of his best displays since arriving at Ibrox.
But Edmundson deserves to take a number of plaudits. The 22-year-old has had to bide his time since joining the Gers. But after Nikola Katic’s struggles at the weekend, Gerrard rolled the dice and handed him a start in Braga.
And the youngster certainly vindicated the decision with an amazing display. So it is no surprise that he was praised by Jones on social media after the full-time whistle…
