Jordan Jones could take over Josh Windass’ mantle at Rangers

Rangers are being linked with a move for Kilmarnock winger Jordan Jones.

Jermain Defoe and Steven Davis are both set to join the revolution at Ibrox, with the experienced Premier League stars having found regular game time hard to come by at Bournemouth and Southampton respectively.

But according to The Herald, Jones is close to a pre-contract agreement which would see him join the club at the end of the season. He is expected to undergo a medical this week.

Jones has been an ever-present for Kilmarnock this season, featuring in all but two league games.

Jones to take over Windass’ mantle?

Jones is a direct winger who is full of pace.

He is someone who can hug the touchline to provide width for his team, but also come inside now and then to allow for the overlap.

Jones would provide some much needed cover in the wide areas, and there’s a chance he could become Rangers’ new Josh Windass as he gets into good attackin positions.

Windass was sold to Wigan Athletic last summer, with a number of fans left disappointed over his exit.

Windass was a divisive figure during his short spell at the club, but in the 2016/17 season he scored 18 goals in all competitions and often proved a menace out wide.

Jones could well become the new version of Windass if he can improve his finishing, as his dribbling and crossing are both strong aspects if his game
