Liverpool midfielder Jordan Henderson still has his fair share of critics despite being a key figure at Anfield, but may have silenced some doubters with his performance on Tuesday night in the win over Napoli.

The Reds booked their spot in the Champions League knockout rounds after a tense 1-0 victory against Napoli at Anfield, with Mohamed Salah scoring the winner with a brilliant individual goal.

Jurgen Klopp’s side had to survive some dangerous attacks from the Italian side and in the end held firm defensively.

Henderson deserves special recognition for his display in the centre of the park, as he was a constant vocal figure for his teammates and demonstrated his value to the team as captain.

Henderson was particularly strong in the second-half against Napoli by spraying possession all over the park and has an excellent range of passing.

The 28-year-old provided extra defensive cover too in front of the backline and has the discipline that makes him a dream for Klopp in crunch fixtures.

He may not always be the most pleasing on the eye for supporters, but is Klopp’s general on the field and the England international has proven his worth as a £20million (BBC) signing back in 2011.
