Jordan Henderson has shared his verdict after Tottenham Hotspur announced that they have appointed Antonio Conte as their new manager – in comments reported by the Liverpool Echo.

Spurs have gone from being a team in disarray to seemingly becoming the side to look out for in the weeks to come in the Premier League.

They parted company with Nuno Espirito Santo on Monday. It came with Tottenham losing their fifth Premier League game in their last seven the previous day.

It seemed a hugely embarrassing moment for Daniel Levy. Of course, Nuno was appointed after a turbulent search in the summer.

But Spurs have bounced back in stunning fashion. They have now appointed Conte.

The 52-year-old has won five league titles, including the Premier League with Chelsea. He is also the current holder of the Serie A crown, after guiding Inter Milan to the Scudetto last season.

Tottenham are going to be fascinating to watch in the weeks to come. And it seems that some of their rivals are also going to be watching on with plenty of interest, with Henderson backing Spurs to really kick on under their new boss.

“He’s a huge manager in world football with what he has achieved, so I am sure he will make his mark on the Spurs squad and get them competing on the highest level. Another big manager in the Premier League,” he said, as reported by Liverpool Echo.

Conte has fantastic chance to get off to flying start at Tottenham

It is hard to argue that Spurs made a poor decision getting rid of Nuno. But he would want it noted that he came up against six of the current top seven in his opening 10 league games.

The flip side is Conte has been left with a very good opportunity to get off to a flyer.

Everton – who sit 10th – are their highest opponents in their next five in the league. And they have lost their last three.

Spurs are two points off fifth right now. So it may not take too long for Conte to get his new side moving in the right direction.
