According to The Daily Record, Aberdeen are lining up deals for two Celtic players before the January transfer window slams shut.
Jonny Hayes and Lewis Morgan are both on Derek McInnes’ radar late on in the January window.
Hayes would probably move to Aberdeen on a permanent basis, while Morgan’s deal would be a loan.
And if Celtic decide to permit this double departure, it could cap an impressive January transfer window for the Bhoys.
The Scottish Premiership champions have strengthened their squad this month in an attempt to win a third consecutive domestic treble.
Timothy Weah, Vakoun Issouf Bayo and Oliver Burke have all arrived at Celtic Park to bolster Brendan Rodgers’ attacking options.
Celtic’s options are now looking strong but Rodgers has previously admitted to having a “bloated” squad (The Scotsman).
Rodgers does not need to add any new players this month but trimming his squad would be a positive way to end this month.
Hayes and Morgan both need to leave Celtic this month for different reasons. Both players are on the fringes of the first-team and need to leave for first-team football.
But Hayes has little hope of salvaging his Celtic career, which has been a disappointment since his move from Aberdeen.
A return to the Dons would be a good career move for the 31-year-old Irishman, while Morgan could kick-start his career at Pittodrie.
The 22-year-old joined in the summer from St Mirren but has played a bit-part role. He needs to prove himself in the Scottish Premiership and then he could enjoy a Ryan Christie style rise to stardom next season.
