Jonjoe Kenny has told inews that he has no idea what the future holds for him ahead of a potential return to Everton this summer, insisting that he is just focused on Schalke’s upcoming run of games.
Kenny has been a revelation since joining David Wagner’s men on loan during the summer. He has made 22 league appearances for the Bundesliga side, scoring once and providing two assists in the top flight.
Some Toffees fans may be convinced that he deserves another opportunity at Goodison Park next season. Carlo Ancelotti’s arrival seems to have inspired a number of players.
And it appears that those supporters are optimistic that Kenny could realise his full potential working with the Italian.
But it seems that there is still a big question mark surrounding the youngster’s future with Everton. inews reports that he has not spoken to Ancelotti since his appointment.
And Kenny admitted that it is too soon to know what the future holds for him beyond this season.
“We’ve got five or six big games coming up before the next international break and I don’t try to look too far ahead until the end of the season, ‘cos I honestly don’t know,” he told inews when asked about his long-term future.
It will be interesting to see what Everton decide this summer. They currently have Djibril Sidibe on loan, and the Liverpool Echo reports that the Toffees have an option to buy the 27-year-old.
Interestingly, Sidibe recently provided a similar answer to the Liverpool Echo when asked about the possibility of joining Everton permanently.
So the Toffees certainly have plenty of options. And surely, after an impressive spell in Germany, so does Kenny.
