Jonjo Shelvey has commited his future to Newcastle United despite the departure of Rafa Benitez this summer, as per the Shields Gazette.
The Englishman who joined the Magpies for a reported (Guardian) £12 million back in 2016 has said he won’t be following Benitez and Ayoze Perez out of the exit door in the current window.
He said: “I won’t be leaving this football club. I’ve not looked to go anywhere. I’ve never downed tools. I’ve always carried on doing the right things, and that’s what I’ll continue to do.
“The fans pay your wages. I love living in the North East. It’s a brilliant place to be. My kids love it. My wife’s settled. So, at the end of the day, I just want to carry on doing what I’m doing.”

Shelvey struggled badly with injury last season and dropped far from the first team picture at one point, when Sean Longstaff was thriving in the side.
But with the club in crisis and the squad shrinking, Newcastle are going to need everyone they can get to be pulling in the same direction.
Shelvey has had a reputation for a poor attitude, but his comments here show exactly the right approach by respecting the fans and putting in his all.
It’s a bare minimum – and some cynics may say he’s now back committed because a suitor hasn’t been found – but the proof will be in the pudding with Shelvey.
