Jonathan Woodgate has been singing the praises of his former club Leeds United following their win over his current side Middlesbrough in the Championship yesterday.

Leeds United won 4-0 at Elland Road as Woodgate’s Boro side were completely outplayed in West Yorkshire.

It was not a happy return to the club where Woodgate started his professional football career.

But after the game, as quoted by the Yorkshire Evening Post, Woodgate hailed the Leeds United supporters. He also went on to claim that Leeds could be unstoppable if they do manage to secure their elusive promotion from the Championship this season.

“[The Leeds fans were] unbelievable. I couldn’t clap them at the time, we’re getting beat. A top club, I wish them all the best.

“If they get in the Premier League it’ll be some train to get on, it’ll only go one way. I’ve been there. It’s an incredible club.”

Leeds United fans will be pleased to hear that their former player still clearly holds a candle for the club.

Woodgate was clearly happy to have got the chance to face off against his old team, even if Boro were totally outclassed on the day.

Leeds United fans will just be hoping that his prediction about the club being unstoppable under the guidance of Marcelo Bielsa is true as they look to push for promotion back to the top-flight.
