Ex-England international Joleon Lescott has shared his concern that the current Leeds United squad is not equipped for the Premier League.
The Whites are currently competing for promotion in the Championship and sit second in the table, as they look to return to the top flight through the automatic spots.
Manager Marcelo BIelsa has transformed the club since he moved to Elland Road at the beginning of the season and has made a huge impact in Yorkshire.
Lescott, who was appearing as a pundit for Sky Sports, is unsure though on if the current group have enough quality for the top flight.
He has suggested that there would need to be a real injection of experience to the squad if they do earn promotion.
“Manager wise I would say Leeds [are best prepared for the Premier League],” Lescott said on Sky Sports programme The Debate (6 March, 2019).
“But personnel wise, they won’t have many Premier League players that have played in the Premier League. So they’re going to need to recruit a lot of experience.” Lescott said on Sky Sports programme The Debate.

TBR’s View:
It’s true that Leeds’ squad isn’t blessed with Premier League rivals unlike some of their promotion rivals, but they have got to the position they are in right now on merit and have excellent quality.
The likes of Pontus Jansson, Kalvin Phillips and Kemar Roofe certainly do have potential to make the step up to the top flight despite the lack of experience.
Any team that is promoted of course needs to strengthen if they want to compete in the Premier League, but Leeds’ squad do have an experienced head in Pablo Hernandez in their ranks and he has previously proven himself at the top.
