Joleon Lescott has told Stadium Astro that Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Dele Alli has got to consider a move to join Mauricio Pochettino and form a potential reunion at Paris Saint-Germain – amid reports both are being linked with PSG.
Thomas Tuchel has been sacked by the French giants and the German is expected to be replaced by Pochettino. Italian transfer expert Fabrizio Romano says Pochettino has already agreed a move to rejoin PSG – having played for the club as a player.
Dele, 24, has been linked with a move to PSG. BBC Sport state that PSG will make a loan bid for the 37-time England international in January, having managed just 74 minutes of Premier League football this season.
The presence of Pochettino is only likely to increase the chances of such a move. Asked about a potential reunion with Pochettino at PSG, Lescott thinks Dele has got to consider a move if an offer is forthcoming in the January window.
“Dele Alli needs to find a way to kickstart and rejuvenate his career,” Lescott said. “Two years ago he was regarded as one of the best talents in the Premier League. With the Euros in the summer, he will want to play and get in a rhythm to stand a chance.
“PSG would be a great opportunity for him to do that with them looking to win titles and compete in Europe. That would be a sensible move as he knows the manager and the manager knows what he brings to the table. It would make sense.”
TBR’s view – Dele can reclaim Euro 2021 place with PSG move
Certainly, playing on a stage as big as the one PSG offer will only encourage Gareth Southgate to take a close look at Dele – who many feel has been harshly treated by Jose Mourinho. Indeed, some of his brief appearances have been impressive.
PSG need a 10. Angel Di Maria is preferred out wide, Julian Draxler is in and out of form and they need a bit of creativity. Dele is ideal for PSG, PSG is ideal for Dele and the reunion between Dele and Pochettino is one that should not be overlooked.
