John Terry says Harry Kane will not win any trophies if he stays at Tottenham

John Terry has claimed on beIN Sports that Harry Kane has to leave Tottenham Hotspur if he wants to win any trophies in his career.

The England skipper has been linked with a move away from North London on numerous occasions in the past, but Spurs have always managed to keep hold of him.

Things, however, could change soon.

John Terry says Harry Kane will not win any trophies if he stays at Tottenham

Kane will enter the final 18 months of his contract in January. Multiple clubs will take an interest in him, and we won’t be surprised if an offer comes in for him at the end of this season.

Spurs would undoubtedly want to keep hold of Kane, but the 29-year-old Englishman, like every great player, will want to give himself the best chance of winning trophies in the coming years.

Terry, who knows a thing or two about lifting silverware, is aware of Kane’s ambitions and that he wants to end his career with numerous trophies under his belt. To achieve that, the Chelsea legend claims he has to leave Tottenham.

He said: “I think he’s got ambitions to go and win trophies. He’s clearly not going to win trophies playing at Spurs, is he? Whether that’s for four, five, six (more) years.

“Any chance I can have a pop at Spurs, I will, but let’s be honest with ourselves, he’s one of the best strikers in the world. He wants to win trophies, he wants to play for the best and biggest teams.

“Spurs are not that, Spurs are not going to give him trophies. He wants to finish his career with some trophies.”

TBR View:

Terry’s comments suggest that Kane does not want to stay at Tottenham anymore as he knows that his chances of winning silverware in North London are not great.

The Englishman has been one of the best strikers in the world for years now, but he has nothing to show for it in terms of trophies.

When he enters the final year of his contract next summer, Kane will have to think long and hard about his future. It’s not that it’s impossible for him to win trophies at Spurs, but he’s more likely to do it at a bigger club – Bayern Munich perhaps.

It will be interesting to see what Kane will do at the end of this season, but if he phones Terry for some advice, his answer will be a simple one – leave Tottenham!
