John McGinn sends message to Aston Villa fans on Twitter
Aston Villa midfielder John McGinn has taken to Twitter to admit that he is gutted as he seemingly prepares for a lengthy spell on the sidelines.
McGinn had to be taken off during the early stages of the Villans’ defeat to Southampton. Dean Smith confirmed to the club’s official website after the game that he is not expecting to receive good news on the Scot.
Villa are yet to confirm exactly how long McGinn is expected to be out for. But The Telegraph has reported that he will miss the next three months with a fractured ankle.
And McGinn has seemingly confirmed that he will miss a substantial period after posting an emotional update on social media. He also expressed his gratitude to the supporters for the messages that he has received.
Here is what McGinn posted…
Thanks everyone for all the messages and support. Gutted but will be back before you know it #UTV ?

If there is one positive for Villa, it does appear that the problem is not quite as bad as first feared. The Telegraph suggested that the initial worry was that McGinn would miss the rest of the season.
But there is no question that it is a massive blow for Villa. The 25-year-old has been superb in the Premier League. And Smith’s men now need their biggest players to step up.
Villa have fallen into the bottom three after losing to the Saints on Saturday. They have now lost their last four and face the bottom two in their next two games.
