John Hartson slaughters £15million Arsenal bid for Celtic defender Kieran Tierney

John Hartson believes that Arsenal’s reported £15million bid for Celtic defender Kieran Tierney is an “embarrassment”.

The Scottish Sun reports that Neil Lennon’s side have rejected a £15million offer for their left-back, but another bid is expected shortly.

The report explains that it will take at least £25million to prize him away from Parkhead and the Scottish champions are open to his potential departure.

Tierney remains with the Bhoys for now and has developed into a key player for them in recent years, but the Premier League is a real option for him.

The 22-year-old is an attack-minded full-back and he’s got 37 assists in 170 senior games for Celtic.

Hartson, who played for both Celtic and Arsenal, believes that the Scotland international is worth much more than £15million and that he will want to be kept.

“My old club Arsenal testing the waters with reported 15million bid for Kieran Tierney. Celtic don’t want to sell besides that in this current market 15million is an embarrassment to the player and his ability,” Hartson wrote on his personal Twitter account.

TBR’s View:

Celtic will do well to get £25million for Tierney and the defender is probably worth that in the current market.

There is every possibility that he goes on to have a successful career in England and could end up following a similar path to Liverpool’s Andy Robertson.

He’s going to have extreme pressure on him to step up if he does join Arsenal, but Celtic have had some great years out of him and he’s been crucial in the Treble Treble success.
