Celtic confirmed the sale of defender Jeremie Frimpong on Wednesday evening, who has completed a move to Germany.
Neil Lennon’s side have sold the young right-back for £11.5million (Scottish Sun) to German Bundesliga side Bayer Leverkusen.
The 20-year-old speedster is a highly-rated full-back that has put in some brilliant individual performances since his move to Parkhead back in September 2019.
He is a real threat going forward, scoring three goals and setting up eight assists in 51 appearances.
Despite the fact the defensive side of his game still needs improving, he’s been the first-choice right-back for the Scottish giants and his departure does leave a sizeable gap in the team.
Pundit and ex-Celtic forward John Hartson has given his response on social media.
“Frimpong always made himself available, got the team up the pitch gave us an out when we were camped in our own half.lacked top quality but had real pace, and a heart of a lion,” he wrote on his personal Twitter account.

TBR’s View:
Aged 20, Frimpong is a rising star that has the potential to be a brilliant player in the future and has certainly shown flashes of that during his time in Glasgow.
It looks like a decent piece of business from Leverkusen to sign him, but at the same time £10million-plus for Celtic injects some great money into the squad.
They need to ensure they invest that wisely into improving the team, as they have some ground to catch up on to rivals and current league leaders Rangers.
