John Hartson has suggested on Twitter that Liverpool’s second team is good enough to beat the majority of the Premier League after the date for their Carabao Cup tie with Aston Villa was confirmed.
There had been doubts about when the Reds would play their quarter-final against the Villans. The tie was initially scheduled for December 17.

But with Jurgen Klopp’s side playing a game in the FIFA Club World Cup in Qatar the following day, there was some uncertainty surrounding when the game would actually be played.
But, as reported by BBC Sport, the EFL have now confirmed that the two games will go ahead as originally planned.

But while logistics may prove to be a nightmare, Hartson has backed Liverpool to handle the demands of the two games without any problems.
The former Premier League striker took to social media to suggest that the Reds have the depth to put out two teams who could beat almost all of the sides in the top flight, seemingly confirming that he would deem a second-string Liverpool side to be the favourites against Dean Smith’s men.
Of course, Villa will point to the weekend’s game as a reason to believe that that would not be the case. But here is what Hartson made of the announcement confirming when the tie will be played…
