Joey Barton has suggested that Rangers loanee Jordan Rossiter could be sidelined for the rest of the season, but insisted that he would like to sign the midfielder permanently in the summer, in comments reported by The Scottish Sun.
It is impossible not to have sympathy for Rossiter. Despite it looking unlikely that he would have a future at Ibrox, it appeared that he was getting his career back on track after joining Fleetwood Town on loan in the summer.
The youngster proved a point by playing regularly for Bury during the second-half of last season. And it appeared that his nightmare run with injuries may be behind him as he featured in 19 games for the League One side at the start of this campaign.
However, he has been dealt another cruel blow. Barton has suggested that Rossiter – who is set to be released by Rangers in the summer (via The Scottish Sun) – could miss the rest of the season.
“It’s going to be tough for Jordy, I think he’s going to be out for probably the remainder of the season,” he said, as reported by The Scottish Sun.
“We hope to see if we can get him back towards the back end but it looks like he could be missing for a prolonged period.”
The writing has probably been on the wall for some time for Rossiter at Rangers. Nevertheless, it is still sad that his season and association with the club could have ended in this manner.
He clearly has the potential to be a fantastic midfielder in years to come. And Rangers fans saw glimpses of that player when he did feature for the Gers.
The good news is that Barton has opened the door for a permanent move further down the line. And it is absolutely no surprise to see many Gers fans wishing Rossiter nothing but the best after he has left the club.
Several have praised Rossiter’s ability and insisted that he has the talent to bounce back. But the supporters are now convinced that he has probably already made his final appearance for Rangers.
Here is how some of the Rangers fans have reacted to Barton’s comments on Rossiter…
Seeing Jordan Rossiter has been ruled out for the rest of the season with a knee injury. Poor guy, undoubtedly there’s real talent there but injury after injury are destroying what could have been a fantastic career.

Rossiter again ruled out for the season due to injury. You’ve got to feel for the kid.

Rossiter apparently out for the rest of the season again, so unfortunate for the boy. There’s some player in there but I’ve never seen a guy more injury prone in my life

Regardless of the club, it’s awful to see a kid with so much potential destroyed by injury.

Honestly feel so sorry for Jordan Rossiter, the boy just can’t catch a break at all

Jordan Rossiter, who is on loan at Fleetwood has been ruled out for the rest of the season🤦♂️.
Guy just can’t catch a break. Had been great for Fleetwood and had been playing most games.

And sadly that ends his Rangers career. So much promise but unfortunately his body is made of glass. Wish him all the best for the rest of his career. I think he’ll do someone a real good turn in the future, if he can stay injury free.
