Joe Willock urges Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang to stay at Arsenal this summer

Joe Willock has told the Beautiful Game Podcast that he is desperate to see Arsenal teammate Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang remain at The Emirates this summer – and claimed the Gunners skipper looks “happy”.

Aubameyang scored twice on Saturday evening as The Gunners stunned Manchester City with an excellent 2-0 win in the FA Cup semi-final. It saw the apprentice beat the master, as Mikel Arteta tussled with Pep Guardiola.

However, Aubameyang – who scored his 24th and 25th goals of the season against City – has entered the final 12 months of his contract at Arsenal. There are major doubts over his future with the Gunners.

Arsenal midfielder Willock was asked about Aubameyang’s future and he stated that he would love to see the former Borussia Dortmund man remain in north London – stating the striker looks happy, but is unsure if he will sign.

What On Earth Is Going On With The Copa America?

“Auba’s an amazing guy,” Willock said. “He’s our captain but not only that, he’s a massive, massive player for us. I don’t really know what’s going with all that stuff but, I love to play with him, he’s an amazing guy.

“Hopefully he does stay with the club. He looks happy.”

TBR’s view – All signs beginning to point to Aubameyang deal

It was a difficult restart for Arsenal, suffering defeats to Manchester City and Brighton. Mesut Ozil and Matteo Guendouzi were ostracised after reports of bad attitude. But since then, things have pointed in the right direction.

New contracts for Gabriel Martinelli and Bukayo Saka, talks of an extension for Alexandre Lacazette and wins over both Liverpool and Manchester City are all signs that Arteta has the Gunners moving the right way.

Surely, then, Aubameyang will have taken notice of that and will want to be a part of the new Arsenal.
