Joe Willock has been quoted by the Shields Gazette as stating that he would “love to continue” playing at Newcastle United having only joined the club on loan in January – and Arsenal fans have responded on Twitter.
Willock, 21. had started just two Premier League games for Arsenal during the first half of the season – instead being used as what many labelled Arsenal’s B-team to get them through a kind group stage in the Europa League.
With January drawing to a close, Newcastle finally convinced the midfielder to swap North London for Tyneside and Willock has since starred for Steve Bruce’s side – despite being in a side that are struggling towards the bottom.
He has started six successive Premier League games, scoring on his debut in a 3-2 win over Southampton. Discussing his future, Willock suggested that he would like to continue to play at Newcastle – hinting at another loan next term.

“I love playing for Newcastle,” Willock said. “When I first came here, I was a bit apprehensive of how I would take to it, because I’d never left Arsenal. I’d been at Arsenal since I was four and a half.
“So coming to a new club, coming up north to Newcastle, was a bit scary. But as I came here and settled in, and saw the love from the fans that I’m receiving, of course I’d love to continue playing here.”
Arsenal fans reacted on Twitter to the news that Willock is keen on remaining at St. James’ Park for longer than his initial loan spell – which keeps him on Tyneside until the summer. Many discussed a permanent exit.
