Heading into the final days of the transfer window, it would appear that Tottenham Hotspur have one standout target on their radar.
As reported by the Daily Mail, Spurs offered £7 million for Swansea City’s Joe Rodon on Monday. The two clubs were said to be in talks with the Swans reportedly holding out for £18 million.
Of course, the deal could still go through with Premier League clubs still able to sign EFL players until next Friday.
So perhaps, Spurs may decide to bide their time before making an improved offer as Rodon may end up with the perfect opportunity to prove exactly why he is on Tottenham’s radar.
The Swans do not play again until after the window has shut. However, Rodon has been named in Ryan Giggs’s Wales squad for this international break.
And that means that the 22-year-old is in contention to feature against England this Thursday.
It remains to be seen how experimental Giggs and Gareth Southgate are with their lineups given that it is a friendly ahead of two Nations League games.
But there is a chance that Rodon could end up tasked with trying to stop Harry Kane.
If that proves to be the case, and Rodon impresses, Spurs may feel all the more convinced that the defender is one for their future.
