Neil Lennon is expected to bring in a number of new faces before September 2’s deadline and has already brought Fraser Forster back to the club on loan from Southampton – now another former Hoops star has hinted at a return.
Forster has rejoined Celtic on a season-long loan from Southampton, after becoming completely surplus to requirements at the Premier League club. Angus Gunn and Alex McCarthy have been promoted, leaving Forster third choice.
Celtic have been linked with a handful of players that played under Lennon at Celtic, including Gary Hooper, Adam Matthews and Victor Wanyama. But another free agent reacted to the news that Forster had rejoined the club.
Free agent midfielder Joe Ledley reacted on Twitter to the news that 6ft 7in colossus Forster had returned to Celtic for the season, following an injury blow to goalkeeper Scott Bain and Craig Gordon now 36 – and turning 37 in December.

During his time at Celtic, Ledley clocked up 157 appearances for the Hoops in four seasons – the latter three of which were the beginning of the club’s eight successive Scottish Premiership titles. He won four trophies at Celtic, and scored 30 goals.
Now, Ledley – who is still without a club but has been linked with Cardiff City – liked a Tweet from a Celtic fan urging him to return to Glasgow and pull on the green and white of Celtic once again.
Below, shows the last two Tweets which Ledley has liked, the second-last being a Tweet saying: “Bring him (Ledley) home”.
