John Stones starred for Manchester City on Tuesday night alongside Ruben Dias as the duo kept a stunning clean sheet against Paris Saint-Germain – and Joe Hart has posted a cheeky contract comment on his Instagram post.
Rewind 12 months, and 26-year-old Stones was struggling to get any game time. Despite injuries at centre-back, Pep Guardiola was preferring to play Fernandinho – a midfielder – in defence over the England international.
But now, he is back to his best and probably one of the most in-form defenders in European football. His performance, along with Dias, on Tuesday night was nothing short of impeccable as they kept PSG at bay to win 2-0.
It comes in the midst of his contract running out, though. The ex-Everton defender is set to enter the last 12 months of his current deal, but The Sun claim he is to be offered a five-year deal worth £150,000 a week. He posted on Insta.
Certainly, the England international is more than deserving of new terms at City having rejuvenated his career under Guardiola – something Tottenham goalkeeper Hart could not do, when first axed by the ex-Barcelona manager.
Hart, who was working as a pundit on BT Sport for the Manchester game, commented on Stones’ Instagram post after the match with a pencil emoji amid reports that Stones is to be offered a new and improved contract.
